WINE OF THE MONTH

Ngatarawa Alwyn
2007 Chardonnay

The Alwyn brand is the epitome of winemaking at Ngatarawa. It is the Winemakers Reserve range, named after the winery's founding winemaker, Alwyn Corban. The wines are produced only in exceptional vintages and then only in small volumes. They are the winemaker's expression of his craft, his aspiration for quality and style.

TASTING NOTES

Colour:           Pale straw with green hues.
Bouquet:       Ripe nectarine, peach, melon and citrus with spicy oak.
Palate:          Full bodied and concentrated. Persistent stone fruit and citrus supported by spicy oak.
                       Restrained and elegant with a seamless textural quality. 

FOOD MATCH:

Perfectly matched with richly flavoured poultry and seafood dishes.

DA VINCI - CHIANTI

The great wines come from Vinci. The village famous as the birthplace of the genius Leonardo Da Vinci.
The Chianti is a carmine red colour with an intense bouquet of ripe fruit. Elegant and gentle on the palate. It ends with solid persistence.

Enjoy a glass of Da Vinci Chianti by the fire to top off a cold wintery day.

REF: Chianti DOCG: Grapes sourced entirely from within the Chianti region. Chianti must be a minimum of 75% Sangiovese.

 GREYWACKE

Greywacke is the new Marlborough label From Keven Judd known for the infamous Cloudy bay vineyard. Now out on his own.

Tasting note:

Its like opening a bag of tree-ripened nectarines Greywacke 2009 sauvignon blanc is  deliciously Aromatic, exuding enticing fruit flavours with a  Spicy tamarillo twist and the zest of yellow Grapefruit. The palate is succulent and tangy- Long and concentrated, finishing with a hint of flinty

I have tried them all, not my cup of tea , but i know there are a lot of people out there who will enjoy them.

Arrogant fog wines

Was born in the Languedoc of southern France. Like its creator, Jean-Claude mas Aka the humble winemaker, this wine is proud to assert its  Mediterranean origins.

Though typically French , arrogant frog leaps out of the glass with new world attitude and style.the wines are smooth, rich and packaged with flavour, but not sweet.

Angove Organic Shiraz Cabernet

Deep red with purple hues this wine displays good intensity or dark berry fruit aromas interwoven with succulent plums and black cherry. The palate is full and opulent with luscious flavours following the initial impression of plums and black cherry with a hint of chocolate. The finish is soft, mouth filling and long.
